Sioni Cathedral - Tblisi, Georgia
The Sioni Cathedral consists of a large complex. It is home to the cross of St. Nino which is made of vine branches tied together with her own hair. The cathedral was originally built in the 6th and 7th centuries but what exists today are buildings primarily constructed in the 13th century (1200’s). St. Nino’s original cross is not visible to the public but a replica is exhibited to the left of the central icon screen.
Most interior photos of paintings were taken in areas that were nearly pitch black. We’ve resurrected them as best as possible.
